MEMORY FIRM Hynix said it has started sampling GDDR4 graphics chips, although mass production won't start until the end of next year. The firm said that GDDR4 chips will almost double the data processing speed of GDD3 memory, and claims that it's perfect for 64-bit operating systems - and therefore the workstation market. The 16Mx32 512Mbit memory flies along at 2.9Gbps and can churn through 11.6GB of data in one second, said Hynix.
