Samsung said Wednesday that a new phone it is releasing combines Bluetooth with voice recognition enabling users to send and receive calls without touching the phone. The company said its new SGH-E620 phone will be sold in Europe. To make calls, the user speaks the person's name and the system automatically searches the phone book and makes the call. The Bluetooth element means that, unlike other phones with voice recognition, the phone need not be put to the user's ear to make calls. An obvious benefit of the system is safer calling for drivers, Samsung said in a statement. The phone supports English, French, Spanish, German and Italian, according to the company. The company said in a statement that it eventually will support Korean, Chinese and Russian.

The company provided no specifics about the phone's release date or price.
