The Ontario government preferred a court injunction to an armed confrontation to end the 1995 standoff with natives at Ipperwash Provincial Park, a former political aide said Tuesday. Deb Hutton, who was then-premier Mike Harris's executive assistant at the time, contradicted testimony of earlier witnesses at the inquiry into the fatal shooting of unarmed native protester Dudley George by Ontario Provincial Police.
