THE price of fish is expected to rise in restaurants and supermarkets under a $220 million overhaul of commercial fishing. Struggling fishermen in Portland, Lakes Entrance and other Victorian coastal towns will be able to sell their licences back to the Commonwealth, in a move aimed at reducing pressure on over-fished waters. The package, unveiled by Fisheries Minister Ian McDonald yesterday, will cap the number of hooks used by commercial marine fisheries at seven million, starting in 2007...
