A shadow cabinet minister today urged her party to drop its opposition to positive discrimination and back a new campaign to get more Conservative women MPs elected. The shadow culture secretary, Theresa May, called on the two Tory leadership hopefuls, David Davis and David Cameron, to sign up to the Women2Win campaign declaration, which urges the party to change the way it selects parliamentary candidates. "It is a little-known fact that there are more men in the shadow cabinet called David than there are women," she said.
